Shiori Ichikawa

2026年8月28日（金）から9月20日（日）までK ART GALLERYにて、Shiori Ichikawaの個展、『things happened』を開催いたします。
展示初日の8月28日はオープン時間を12:00-20:00に延長します。この機会にぜひお越しください。

-Artist Statement-
私はこれまで、自分が街で実際に目にした生き物たちの断片的な体験について、そこに妄想・解釈を織り交ぜて絵にしてきました。その目的は、どうにもならない状況に置かれた生き物の、言葉にならない心情を読もうとするその行為自体を、鑑賞者と共有することにあるのではないかと思います。

ただそこに起こり、偶然通りかかった私がそれを観察し、ハラハラし、「これってこういうことだったのかもしれないよ」と絵にしたものたち。
鑑賞者はその妄想を受け取り、「まさかそんなわけはあるまい。でも、もしそうだったとしたら。」とその可能性を一旦飲み込み、描かれた生き物の心情に寄り添い、想像してみる。それは、人間同士でも大切な行為に思えます。
いろんなことが起きているこの世界で、私は大したことはできないけれど、それらの行為が絵をもって緩やかに広がりを見せたなら。
そんなことを考えながら絵を描きました。

-Profile-
市川 詩織
人間の影響を受けて変化していく生き物たちを描くことで、自分達が抱える問題を客観的にみることはできないか。また、言葉を持たないそれらの生き物の情動を探る時のように、多様な価値観を持って議論し、問題と向き合うことはできないか。
そのような問いかけを、糾弾ではない方法で行うことを自身の制作の課題としています。

K ART GALLERY is pleased to present things happened, a solo exhibition by Shiori Ichikawa, from August 28 to September 20, 2026.
On the opening day, August 28, the gallery will remain open from 12:00 to 20:00. We warmly invite you to visit.

-Artist Statement-
My paintings are based on brief encounters with living creatures I have seen in the city, combined with my own imagination and interpretation.
By imagining the unspoken feelings of creatures caught in situations beyond their control, I hope to share the act of empathy itself with the viewer.
The viewer may think, “Surely that cannot be true—but what if it were?” By accepting that possibility, even for a moment, they are invited to imagine the creature’s experience and emotions.
In a world where so much is happening, I may not be able to do much. Still, I hope that empathy and imagination can gently spread through painting.

Shiori Ichikawa
Through depicting living creatures transformed by human influence, Ichikawa explores whether we might view the problems we face from a more objective perspective.
Just as we try to understand the emotions of creatures without language, she asks whether we can confront these issues through dialogue informed by diverse values and perspectives.
Her practice seeks to raise such questions without accusation or condemnation.
