-Exhibition Concept-
私は空気感や気配といった「気」をコンセプトに、素材や技法にとらわれることなくオブジェや絵画などの作品を制作しています。
今回の初個展《Room》では、空白や断片、陰影などを取り入れた作品によって、柔らかな雰囲気の中にある悲しみや寂しさ、そして小さな幸せを感じる風景を表現しました。
ご覧いただく方にも、作品の中にあるさまざまな「気」を、一緒に感じていただけたら幸いです。

-Contribution text-
李光宗の関心は「気」にある。そこで日本の神社空間や「柱」を、また水滴が作り出す波紋現象の研究などをし、東京藝術大学で博士論文を書いた。今回の作品群はそれらの考えの延長線上にある。
山や滝や岩や樹木といった自然の中に神を見出した古の日本人は、簡素な構築物の中に「気」が生まれることに気づき、それを建築化してきた。「気」は心で感ずるもので、現代の空間でも自然は風や音や陰影によって空間に動きや揺らぎや静寂を作り出し、独自の「気配」を作り出す。そして我々は五感でその「気」を感ずる時がある。
今回の作品群は李光宗が特に室内で「気」を感じた瞬間を視覚化しようとする試みである。

K ART GALLERY is pleased to present Room, a solo exhibition by MITSUMUNE LEE, from October 2 to October25, 2026.
On the opening day, October 2, the gallery will remain open from 12:00 to 20:00. We warmly invite you to visit.


-Exhibition Concept-
My work explores the concept of “CHI”—a subtle sense of atmosphere and presence. Without limiting myself to specific materials or techniques, I create works ranging from objects to paintings.
In my first solo exhibition, Room, I incorporate elements such as empty spaces, fragments, light, and shadow to create scenes that express sadness and loneliness within a gentle atmosphere, as well as moments of quiet happiness.
I hope that viewers will also experience the various forms of “CHI” present within these works.

Mitsumune Lee’s artistic inquiry centers on the concept of “CHI”—a subtle sense of energy, atmosphere, and presence. His research has explored Japanese shrine spaces and the role of pillars within them, as well as phenomena such as the ripples created by falling drops of water. These studies formed the basis of his doctoral dissertation at Tokyo University of the Arts, and the works presented in this exhibition are an extension of these ideas.
In ancient Japan, people perceived the presence of deities in natural elements such as mountains, waterfalls, rocks, and trees. Over time, they came to recognize that “CHI” could emerge within simple structures and began to give architectural form to this sensibility.
“CHI” is something perceived through the heart and senses. Even within contemporary spaces, nature—through wind, sound, light, and shadow—can create movement, fluctuation, and stillness, giving rise to a distinctive sense of presence. At certain moments, we perceive this “CHI” through all five senses.
The works in this exhibition are Mitsumune Lee’s attempt to visualize moments in which he has felt the presence of “CHI,” particularly within interior spaces.

MITSUMUNE LEE
Born in Hunan, China, in 1991.
Graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China, in 2015.
Completed the Master’s Program at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2020.
Completed the Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2026.
His practice explores the concept of “ki”—a subtle sense of atmosphere, presence, and energy—through objects and paintings.
